Which refrigerator type is best — single door, double door or side-by-side?
Single door (direct cool) suits couples and small families and is the most affordable. Double door (frost free) is ideal for families of 3–5. What refrigerator capacity do I need for my family size?
As a rule of thumb: 1–2 members → up to 200 L, 3–4 members → 250–350 L, 5+ members → 400 L and above. Larger families or those who bulk-shop should size up.
What is the difference between direct cool and frost free?
Direct cool fridges are cheaper and use less power but need manual defrosting and cool less evenly. Frost free fridges circulate cold air automatically, prevent ice build-up and cool evenly — better for double-door and larger models.
Are inverter refrigerators worth it?
Yes. Inverter compressors adjust speed to the cooling load, run quieter, last longer and cut electricity bills noticeably over the fridge's life — a smart choice if you keep the fridge running year-round.
What star rating should I choose?
Higher star rating means lower running cost. A 3-star fridge balances price and savings for most homes; 4 and 5-star models cost more upfront but save more electricity over time.
