AC Installation Checklist — 8 Things to Get Right

The 8-point checklist

• 1. Indoor unit height — mounted high (7–8 ft) with a slight tilt for drainage, positioned to throw air along the room's length.
• 2. Away from heat and sun — don't place the indoor unit above heat sources or in direct afternoon sun.
• 3. Outdoor unit airflow — needs open clearance around it; a choked outdoor unit kills efficiency.
• 4. Outdoor unit shade helps — shaded, ventilated spots reduce compressor strain in 45°C summers.
• 5. Short pipe runs — keep the indoor–outdoor distance within the recommended length; long runs cost cooling.
• 6. Proper drainage — the drain pipe must slope continuously; water backing up means stains and drips later.
• 7. Correct wiring and MCB — a dedicated power line with the right breaker; add a stabilizer where voltage fluctuates.
